Modifying Analog Trunk Gains Some customers may feel that their analog trunk is too soft. If you would like to increase either the volume level perceived by outside callers or by inside users, this procedure is for you. The Section 1 describes the procedure for ShoreTel 8 and later (which are using MySQL database) and Section 2 describes the procedure for ShoreTel 7.5 and earlier (which are using Microsoft Access database): Section 1: Modifying Analog Trunk/Extension Gains for ShoreTel 8 and later Apply to ShoreTel 8 build 13.9.9403.0 or higher. You would need a MySQL tool to modify the MySQL table entry, here is an example of using SQLYog; please contact Webyog if you have any question regarding SQLYog (http://www.webyog.com/), it is not supported by ShoreTel. 1. Install SQLYog a. Find the server of the installation, the SQLYog has to be installed on that machine so that it can modify the database properly. b. Download latest stable SQLYog tool to manage MySQL database. The free community edition stable version can be found at http://www.webyog.com/en/downloads.php c. Install SQLYog d. Run SQLYog, create new connection, enter root user’s password “shorewaredba” without quotes, and click on button, as in the next screenshot 2. Open the customer database, and browse to root@localhost, then to shoreware, click and highlight ports. On the lower right panel, click “3 table data” 3. Find the port from the ports table based on switch id, port number, and most importantly, port name. In this example, it is port “HQ SG90-11” defined in director trunk page. 4. Modify the RxGain or the TxGain for the trunk or trunks of interest. If the value is (NULL), default value is used. Outside Caller Increased Volume To increase the perceived volume on the analog trunk from the OUTSIDE CALLER, you must modify the RxGain column for the trunk or trunks of interest. This applies to trunk call to other trunks, extensions and MGCP IP phones. The volume to SIP phone, SIP trunk and voice mail is not impacted. Table 1. Outside Caller Gain Tables RxGain Perceived Volume Increase (dB) 37 0.0 47 +1.0 57 +2.0 67 +3.0 77 +4.0 87 +5.0 Inside User Increased Volume To increase the perceived volume on the analog trunk from the INSIDE USER, you must modify the TxGain column for the trunk or trunks of interest. This gain is applied for any call going out of that port. Table 2. Inside User Gain Tables TxGain Perceived Volume Increase (dB) 36 0.0 46 +1.0 56 +2.0 66 +3.0 76 +4.0 86 +5.0 5. Apply the modification A. After modifying the table entry or entries based on Table 1 or Table 2. B. Close the database C. Stop and Restart TMS. D. Make a call a determine success. If more or less gain is needed, go to step A Note: You can restart TMS from the Main Server Maintenance Page. Section 2: Modifying Analog trunk Gains for ShoreTel 7.5 and earlier 1. First open the customer database This is usually located in: C:\Shoreline Data\Database\ShoreWare.mbd 2. Open the ports table 3. Modify the RxGain or the TxGain for the trunk or trunks of interest. Outside Caller Increased Volume To increase the perceived volume on the analog trunk to the OUTSIDE CALLER, you must modify the RxGain column for the trunk or trunks of interest. Table 1. Outside Caller Gain Tables RxGain Perceived Volume Increase (dB) 37 0.0 47 +1.0 57 +2.0 67 +3.0 77 +4.0 87 +5.0 Inside User Increased Volume To increase the perceived volume on the analog trunk to the INSIDE USER, you must modify the TxGain column for the trunk or trunks of interest. Table 2. Inside User Gain Tables TxGain Perceived Volume Increase (dB) 36 0.0 46 +1.0 56 +2.0 66 +3.0 76 +4.0 86 +5.0 4.
